What can I expect during a typical session?

During the initial session, the practitioner conducts a thorough consultation with clients regarding their health, lifestyle, and related factors. Questions may extend beyond the specific symptoms prompting treatment, reflecting the holistic approach of complementary therapies. The practitioner also inquires about any medical conditions, regardless of their direct relevance to the current symptoms, as well as details regarding all medications and ongoing treatments.

Following the consultation, the practitioner proceeds to assess the client's tongue and pulse. Depending on the client's condition and the therapy plan, they may be positioned lying face down, face up, or on their sides on the treatment couch, or therapy may continue with the client seated. Needles are then inserted, with this phase of the session typically lasting between 20 to 30 minutes, adjusted according to the individual's condition and response.

During follow-up sessions, the consultation phase may be shortened, while the remainder of the session mirrors the initial one.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is central to ancient Chinese medicine, with its origins tracing back over 2,000 years. The Chinese healing tradition deals with the body as a gentle balance of yin and yang. These are opposite but inseparable forces. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the disease happens when the yin and yang energies are imbalances. These imbalances are believed to obstruct the flow of a vital energy (qi) that responsible from spiritual, emotional, mental and physical balance along the meridians. The method involves the insertion of incredibly thin sterilised needles at specific points on the body. With inserting these fine needles at the specific points on the body, helps to connect with those meridians. Acupuncture is believed to help removing the obstruction of the flow of qi, and restoring health to the body and mind.

Western medicine explains holistic acupuncture's effects within a different aspect. By stimulating these nerve rich channel points, acupuncture is credited with the ability to help a wide range of conditions. Some Western scientists believe that acupuncture stimulates the central nervous system and activates the body to release certain substances such as endorphins, immune system cells, neurohormones, and neurotransmitters...etc It can help to change how the body experiences pain and support physical and emotional well-being. Some studies show that acupuncture also improves involuntary central nervous system activities, like blood flow/ pressure and body temperature.

Do the Acupuncture needles hurt?

Acupuncture needles are quite fine needles. They are sterile, metallic ( mostly steal) and solid. There may be none or slight discomfort when inserting the needles. I personally describe the possible discomfort as being like a mild mosquito bite. Many clients report feeling relaxed once the needles are inserted.

How many sessions do I need to have?

Unfortunately, providing a specific answer to this question is hard. The number of sessions a person needs can't be definitively determined. Each individual is unique, and their symptoms and complaints are approached according to that. The severity of the symptoms also plays a significant role. However, in general, we recommend having 6-8 sessions to begin observing noticeable improvements in most cases, .
